VISIT OF HE LIEUTENANT-GOVERNOR TO JPC
On Tuesday 15th July, Jersey’s Lieutenant Governor, H.E. Lieutenant-General Andrew Ridgway and Mrs Ridgway, accompanied by Colonel Stephen Rowland-Jones, visited the facilities of the Jersey Petanque Club at Les Quennevais.
The visiting party were introduced to the Club’s Council and members and the Governor and Col. Rowland-Jones took part in an impromptu doubles match, with the Club’s President, Joan Le Mercier partnering His Excellency and Lawrence Rondel, Club captain partnering Col. Rowland-Jones. After a close run game, the winners were Col. Rowland-Jones and Lawrence.
It would appear that despite assurances to the contrary, Col. Rowland-Jones had played before as he seemed to take very quickly to the game!
After drinks in the Clubhouse, at which the visiting party were able to talk to a number of the Club’s members, the President thanked them for their visit and presented the Governor and Mrs Ridgway with small tokens of appreciation. Lieutenant General Ridgway thanked the Club for their hospitality and wished the organisation well for the future not only of the Club itself but the further development of Petanque in Jersey.

Rita Le Brocq, Joan Le Mercier, His Excellency, Mrs Ridgway & Colin Vibert OK! Who is nearest, is it worth a knighthood!
